✗ CONTAINS DARK THEMES ✗

For decades, there have been incidents of people going missing on Route 50, specifically in Blackbell, Nevada. Each of these cases go cold. No operating law enforcement faction has been able to locate the missing individuals. The common denominator of all these cases are simple:
They were all going to Whisper Mountain Cabin Resort.
Although there is no information or leads much more telling than this, law enforcement has not had much luck investigating. After all... officers and investigators who go up to Whisper Mountain to explore these leads are never seen or heard from again.
This has made law enforcement much more careful, or just scared, to further investigate while people continue to go missing.
The people of the county have long accepted that those insisting to go up to Whisper Mountain will be met with a fate that only they will discover. No one knows what exactly happens to those who don't return. But there have been no limit to the imaginative speculations of the concerned folks who reside along Route 50. They can only warn others:"You'll go up... but you won't be coming down."

The Owner

The Recruiter

The Groundskeeper

The Maid

The Cook

The Ski Instructor

The Bartender

The Staff

The Staff at Whisper Mountain keep the Resort running like a well-oiled machine. They ensure that the grounds are prepared for guests and maintain the integrity of the Resort as a whole. All staff live on Resort grounds in their own private cabins, available 24/7 for any and all needs.
Each member of staff has their own specific duties and their own specific roles.

They do not deviate. They do not ask questions.

The Owner

The Owner, who only goes by "Lionel" otherwise, inherited the Resort and Whisper Mountain from his estranged father after his death. He was first reluctant to accept the inheritance, but curiosity got the better of him, wanting to see what it was about this Mountain that encouraged his father to abandon his family.
Finding a note from his father once he got there, he realized he had made a grave mistake by giving in to his curiosity. The note, short and ominous, only said:
"Now you'll stay too. Give them what they want."Even with no explanations of what this could mean, he figured it out quite quickly when he found he was unable to leave the Mountain. And with this realization, the sense of power that came with it was comparable to his father's, even more so when The Recruiter greeted him, eager to show Lionel the ways of The Mountain.Lionel prefers staying the comfort of his cabin, handing down orders to The Recruiter who quickly became his only trusted confidant. He chooses not to address whether his solitude is because of underlying guilt, or the need to remain ignorant to the strings he was pulling blindly.Or perhaps... that's just the role The Owner is intended to play on Whisper Mountain.

The Recruiter

The Recruiter is possibly the most enigmatic and mysterious of all Whisper Mountain staff. He only goes by 'The Recruiter'. No one knows his real name and he is rarely seen on the grounds of the resort. But many have heard his voice. And it is one that is not easily forgotten.
The Recruiter has served the last three owners of Whisper Mountain, providing counsel and advice, being handed down to each Owner like a prized asset. Although not much is known about him, it is clear he holds more power over the inner workings of the Mountain than anyone else, even The Owner. Somehow, The Recruiter is the only person who can come and go from Whisper Mountain.
The Recruiter is the right hand man of The Owner and is his most trusted advisor. He is responsible for scouting potential staff candidates, if needed, as well as very selective marketing for vacation opportunities through social media and electronic mail.
No one knows the rhyme or reason for The Recruiter's choice of candidates, or what happens to them when the time comes to replace them, and he does a very good job keeping it that way.
That's just the role of The Recruiter on Whisper Mountain.

age: 27
nationality: Korean-American

likes: sunflower seeds, wood carving, strawberry cheesecake, campfires
dislikes: talkative people, Whisper Mountain, being in large groups

Life on the Mountain

When Benjamin inherited the role of Groundskeeper at age 17, and with being stuck on the Mountain, he never finished high school. He resents being stuck in the role that was thrusted upon him, but continues to work hard in order to provide to those on the Mountain who he feels deserves to be taken care of, especially the unknowing guests to the resort, wanting them to feel taken care of before they disappear like the others have.He has an attachment to The Maid and The Ski Instructor and feels the need to protect them as he sees them as innocent victims of Whisper Mountain. While he has the instinct to investigate the inner workings of Whisper Mountain, he fears suffering the same fate as his father, so he tries to be discreet, keeping his findings from the last 10 years to himself.

"Benjamin is the man who keeps Whisper Mountain alive. He is the most senior of staff, being the Groundskeeper for the past 10 years.
His duties extend far past that of a typical Groundskeeper. Benjamin maintains the integrity of the resort grounds along with providing food to staff and guests through means of hunting and fishing.
He inherited his role of Groundskeeper at the age of 17 after the untimely death of his father, Min, who was the previous Groundskeeper on Whisper Mountain."
Management Testimonial

Background

Benjamin grew up an only child and his father, Min, was his favorite person in the world. Benjamin's father moved from Korea to America where he met Benjamin's mother, a troubled woman who left both Min and Benjamin when she decided domestic life wasn't suited to her.
Benjamin took after his father, avid in hunting and fishing and learning survival skills from a young age as they relied on those skills to make a modest living for themselves.
He was initially excited to join his father on Whisper Mountain for a Summer of bonding while his father worked as their Groundskeeper, but he soon realized the darkness of the mountain when his father's death dropped just another anchor for his never-ending stay at Whisper Mountain Resort.

Min Chihun

Min Chihun was the Groundskeeper of Whisper Mountain before his untimely death that caused his son Benjamin to inherit the title.A single father, Min was intrigued by the job offer presented to him by The Recruiter, who offered full accommodations for him and his son at the resort for the Summer in exchange for his work. Min, a man of modest means and the dream of providing his son the life he never had, jumped on the opportunity. He couldn't see a downside to the whole arrangement; being able to spend the entire Summer with his beloved son and earn money while doing it was nothing short of a perfect opportunity. If there was one thing Min wished to see before he grew old and died, it was his son moving on from a life of moderation, going to college, and being everything Min couldn't achieve. And Min was going to do everything he could to make that happen.Min's death was somewhat of a mystery. His body was found in the woods, mangled by what seemed to be wolves. Though it is well known that the forests of Whisper Mountain are home to many predatory animals, his son Benjamin was not convinced this was merely an unfortunate incident. Min was an avid and very skilled huntsman and Benjamin knew that his father would have been able to sense the dangers of the forest before they could take him.Perhaps Min's death wasn't just a hunting accident... perhaps he was just learning a bit too much about the inner workings of Whisper Mountain.

The Maid

name: Nami Kita
age: 19
nationality: Japanese-American
height: 5'1"
likes: strawberry ice cream, painting, campfires
dislikes: Whisper Mountain, crying in front of others, the dark

Life on the Mountain

When Nami inherited her role as The Maid in place of her missing mother, she became obsessed with trying to find out what may have happened to her, convinced that her mother wouldn't just disappear willingly from the family that loved her so much.
With subtle hints from The Groundskeeper, she learned about some others who had gone missing on the Mountain, and she learned what she could from the very little information she secretly found tucked away around the Resort about the other missing persons.
She develops a strong bond with The Groundskeeper and feels most safe with him than anyone else, and becomes good friends with The Ski Instructor, who she tends to look out for as well.

"Nami is a hardworking young woman, who diligently maintains the integrity of the guest cabins at the Resort, as well as the recreational centers on the grounds.
Nami took over the role of The Maid when she arrived unexpectedly at Whisper Mountain.
Nami makes for a perfect addition to the Resort... and a wonderful substitution for her "missing" mother."

Management Testimonial

Background

Nami grew up with the perfect childhood. She had two loving parents, a nice house, wonderful friends, and a bright future ahead of her.
When her mother, Reisa, left for Whisper Mountain when she was a child, the story-book life around her crumbled. She watched as her father slipped into a deep depression that only got worse as each day went by without her mother.
When Reina turned 18, she decided to head to Whisper Mountain herself to find her mother and bring her home, but with no trace of her there, The Recruiter insisted that her mother would be back eventually... so she might as well stay and take on the role of The Maid in her "temporary" absence, not realizing that she had just become another missing person to Whisper Mountain.

Reisa Kita

Reisa Kita was the previous Maid at Whisper Mountain. The young mother received a call from The Recruiter, claiming that she was referred to Whisper Mountain by her current employer at the time due to her extraordinary attention to detail, telling her that the resort could desperately use her expertise in exchange for generous pay.
Intrigued by the offer, yet hesitant to leave her husband and 12 year old daughter, Nami, for an entire summer, Reisa's husband encouraged her to go. With good intentions, her husband insisted that she go and take some time for herself, that even though she would be working, she would have the luxury accommodations that were offered to her and some semblance of a vacation; a notion he believed his wife deserved more than anyone for all that she does.
Reisa kept in constant contact with her family during the entire trip to Whisper Mountain, then all communication went dead. Her family called her repeatedly for days and days on end, filing a missing persons report, insisting that Reisa would never avoid her family, not unless she was in serious trouble.
With little help from law enforcement and her husband's increasing depression with the absence of his wife, her daughter Nami set out on her 18th birthday to find her mother on Whisper Mountain.

name: Vinh "Van" Ngyuen
age: 32
nationality: Vietnamese
height: 6'6"
likes: fire, being left alone, cold weather
dislikes: cooking, The Groundskeeper, his ptsd

Life on the Mountain

Van stumbled upon the myths of Whisper Mountain when he was on the run and jumping bail for his incident in the military. He heard the whispers in the diners along Route 50 talking about some tourists who had disappeared up The Mountain. Not one to believe in superstitions, he decided to go up to The Mountain to hide out there for a while until he planned his next move.
It wasn't long before he met The Recruiter who offered him a position in the kitchens as The Resort's cook. He declined several times, uninterested in the position that he deemed an insult and a sour reminder of his demotion in the military.
His growing distaste for the wonder-boy Groundskeeper was enough to make him want to just turn himself in and go to jail as it was.
But as time went on, and he began to realize that he was never going to leave this God-forgotten mountain, he took the job.
For Van, after all: Idle hands are the Devil's workshop.

"Van is the Resort's culinary master. He is responsible for all meals provided to guests and staff alike. Van is very resourceful in the kitchen and can make just about anything with anything."
Management Testimonial

Background

Van was a troubled child who grew up in an unstable home. He was left an orphan at a young age when his father died and his mother gave him up as she was not able to handle his behavioral issues.
Van was passed from one abusive foster home to another throughout his adolescence until practically being forced to enlist in the Marines to alleviate the homelessness once he aged out of the foster care system.
Military life, in which he served twelve years in, suited Van and his destructive tendencies. His squadmates bestowed the nickname 'Van' on him, mostly because his mumbling often had others misinterpreting 'Vinh' for 'Van'. He never bothered to correct them, and simply decided to just go by 'Van'.
After a recon mission gone wrong by Van's hands, he was demoted from field duty and was forced to work in the kitchens at base until he was eventually dishonorably discharged for stabbing a recruit with a steak knife when he asked Van for some hot sauce.

The Ski Instructor

name: Bo Ossler
age: 24
nationality: Swedish-American

dislikes: Whisper Mountain, the forest, hurting people's feelings

Life on the Mountain

As a college student, funds were tight and expenses were high, so the offer that came from The Recruiter for Bo to go to The Resort to work as The Ski Instructor during Winter break was almost too perfect.
Although feeling unsettled by the overall energy of The Resort, Bo remained optimistic, excited to share his athletic gifts with others .
But Whisper Mountain had a different influence on Bo than it did for the others.
Bo could hear whispers from the trees just beyond the ski slopes. He could only ignore them for so long until they grew louder and instilled paranoia within him.
Though he tries to keep that smile on his face, his mind is constantly whirling with the conspiracies planted in his head.
Especially whenever he sees The Cook... the whispers say that meat is... suspicious...

"Young Bo is Whisper Mountain's resident Ski Instructor. Bo's tender hearted demeanor and unmatched patience makes him the perfect teacher for beginners and little ones alike.
With Bo's guidance and consistent visits down to the slopes, any guest can become a pro in no time."

Management Testimonial

Background

Bo was a natural athelete from a young age. His parents always encouraged him to participate in sports and he found a particular knack for lacrosse, skiing, and hockey.
Bo's dream was to become an Olympic athlete, wanting to excel in sports across the board to compete in as many events as possible, consistently wanting to be a record-breaker.
Bo's friends all called him "Sunshine", and only one look at his kind, bright smile would explain why.
He hated being called a jock, he thought the word was ugly, that it came with assumptions of his character that couldn't be farther from the truth.
There was no one Bo could have trouble bonding with, and while that could be tiring for him a lot of the time, he carried that burden in order to ensure that all of those around him were happy.
